In the article the main stages of the writing and recording process of "Good Morning Good Morning" (1967) are described. The idea of the song was based on a chance impulse (TV commercial) which happened to fit to John Lennon's life-situation at the time ("the silence of Weybridge") and was also linked to his childhood (a walk to his old school). During the writing process this idea was "translated" into a song by means of sketching and revising. Arranging, recording and mixing followed each other as successive but partly overlapping stages in which the contribution of the EMI staff (the producer and the recording engineer) was considerable. With an idea based on a TV commercial and sound effects compiled of different animal sounds the making of "Good Morning Good Morning" is a good example of such creative playfulness which can be applied to music teaching also in practical classroom situations.
